MDOT Contract #20-5462 Capital Avenue SW

Resolved that the Calhoun County Board of Commissioners does hereby approve the Michigan Department of Transportation Contract #20-5462, which includes cold in place recycling work along Capital Avenue SW (5 Mile Road), from approximately 1,600 feet north of B Drive South northerly to the City of Battle Creek limits; including shoulder widening, sign replacement, and permanent pavement marking work and all necessary related work. This also authorizes the County Administrator/Controller and Board of Commissioner Chair to electronically sign necessary documents to execute the contract, upon review by legal counsel.
It is the Calhoun County Road Department's (CCRD) recommendation to approve Contract 20-5462 for the federal aid project that will occur on Capital Avenue SW (5 Mile Road). Approving this contract will allow CCRD to accept MDOT funding to reconstruct this roadway. It is the recommendation of the Road Department to approve MDOT Contract 20-5462. Without board approval, the Road Department would lose the funding necessary to complete this project.
The Calhoun County Road Department has been granted partial funding for a project that is proposed to be constructed on Capital Avenue SW. The federal funding provided covers 66% of the cost of this project. The CCRD is responsible for providing a 34% match. The grand total estimated cost is $334,262, with federal funds being $221,163, and the match total from the Road Department being $113,099.
The Board could choose not to approve this contract. If the contract is not approved, the Road Department would not receive the funds and the project would not be completed at this time.
