RESOLUTION:

Resolved that the Calhoun County Board of Commissioners does hereby approve the Michigan Department of Transportation Contract #20-5463, which includes hot mix asphalt resurfacing work along Partello Road/H Drive North from 20 Mile Road to 21 Mile Road, including crush and shape work; and all together with necessary related work. This also authorizes the County Administrator/Controller and Board of Commissioner Chair to electronically sign necessary documents to execute the contract, upon review by legal counsel.

RECOMMENDATION:

It is the Calhoun County Road Department's (CCRD) recommendation to approve Contract 20-5463 for the federal aid project that will occur along Partello Road/H Drive North from 20 Mile Road to 21 Mile Road. Approving this contract will allow CCRD to accept MDOT funding to improve this roadway. It is the recommendation of the Road Department to approve MDOT Contract 20-5463. Without board approval, the Road Department would lose the funding necessary to complete this project.

BACKGROUND:

The Calhoun County Road Department has been granted partial funding for a project that is proposed to be constructed on Partello Road/H Drive North from 20 Mile Road to 21 Mile Road. The federal funding provided covers 80% of the cost, with CCRD being responsible for providing a 20% cost. The grand total estimated cost is $862,500, with federal funds being $690,000, and the match total from the Road Department being $172,500.

ALTERNATIVES:

The Board could choose not to approve this contract. If the contract is not approved, the Road Department would not receive the funds and the project would not be completed at this time.
