2020 Application for Survey and Remonumentation Grant
Jen Bomba, Community Development Director, Community Development
Resolved, that the Calhoun County Board of Commissioners approve the 2020 Application for a Survey and Remonumentation Grant as presented, and authorize the Administrator/Controller to sign the application on behalf of the County.
The County Commission action is requested to approve and authorize signature of the 2020 Application for a Survey and Remonumentation Grant as prepared by the GIS Department for submission to the State of Michigan.
The Corporation Counsel recommends that the Commission designate the County Administrator/Controller to sign the grant application as Kelli Scott is the designated County Grant Administrator acknowledged by the State of Michigan for this purpose.
Calhoun County has participated in the Survey and Remonumentation Grant Program since its inception in 1993. The program has facilitated the remonumentation of approximately 2,660 section corners to date and is proposing to monument an additional 65 corners in 2020. The budget for the 2020 program totals $89,851 and includes $74,851 in funds allocated to Calhoun County from the State of Michigan, and $15,000 in county match funds. County match funds are provided through the capture of revenues generated from recording fees as provided by Public Act 346 of 1990.
The Board could choose not to approve the 2020 Survey and Remonumentation Grant application, at which time the $74,851 allocated from the State of Michigan would go unused by Calhoun County.
County Commission action is requested to approve and authorize signature of the 2020 Application for a Survey and Remonumentation Grant as prepared by the GIS Department for submission to the State of Michigan.
The 2020 remonumentation grant is included in the approved 2020 budget.
