Equalization Director 2020 Contract - - Mathew Hansen

Resolved the Calhoun County Board of Commissioners does hereby approve the Professional Service Agreement with Mathew Hansen to provide MMAO (Level IV) equalization services, as presented.
County Administration recommends the Board of Commissioners approve the Equalization Agreement with Mathew Hansen for services in the 2020 calendar year.
The professional service agreements as recommended by County Administration provides equalization services to the County including: reviewing equalization reports for accuracy, advising County Administration and staff on equalization matters, and ensuring that the County is in full compliance with all rules, regulations, and policies currently in place or as may be promulgated from time to time by the Treasury Department and/or the State Tax Commission. Given the County Tax base, State Law requires that the County employ an MMAO (Level IV) assessor to provide these services.
Mr. Hansen is currently providing these services on a contract basis. The terms of the proposed contract are similar to the current contract in force through the end of 2019. Per the agreement, Mr. Hansen will act as the appointed Calhoun County Equalization Director, in an independent contractor capacity, and oversee the statutory responsibilities of the Equalization Department. The effective term of the agreement will be January 1, 2020 to December 31, 2020, at a total annual amount of $25,000.00 to be paid $2,083.33 per month.
The County currently has no alternative MMAO (Level 4) qualified person to fill this position, which is required by state law.
County Administration recommends Board of Commissioner approval for the Professional Services Agreement with Mathew Hansen to provide equalization services.
The amount allocated for this contract is funded in the approved 2020 budget.
