Revisions to the Bylaws of the Calhoun County Board of Health
Jim Dyer, Corporation Counsel, Corporation Counsel
The Calhoun County Board of Commissioners does approve the revisions to the Calhoun County Board of Health By-Laws as presented.
The Health Department, County Administration and the Corporation Counsel recommend approval of the resolution.
The Calhoun County Board of Health formally adopted its existing bylaws on December 6, 2007. Given the passage of time, and some changes in the manner of conducting its business, the County Board of Health conducted a review of their bylaws and suggested certain changes to the Health Department. These suggestions were submitted to the corporation counsel for review, who made additional changes, primarily to the Articles I and II that address the authority and creation of the Board of Health, and to Article V, Section 5, dealing with conflicts of interest involving Board of Health Members.
These proposed changes are now submitted to the County Board of Commissioners for approval. Once approved here it is suggested that the Board of Health ratify and adopt the revised bylaws at their January meeting. The document is set up to reflect that sequence of events
A copy of the 2007 Bylaws, a Redline version showing the changes proposed and a final signature copy are provided for your review.
None. Revisions could be considered as suggested by the Commission.
The Health Department, County Administration and the Corporation Counsel recommend approval of the resolution. The changes are intended to reflect current practices and to expressly recognize that the Board of Health functions by delegation of power from the County Board.
None anticipated. The changes are primarliy procedural and relate to the conduct of meeting by the Board of Health. There should be no fiscal impact.
