SWMBH was created following passage of new State legislation requiring regional entities designated by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) to coordinate the provision of substance use disorder services.
An Intergovernmental Contract sets forth the terms and conditions for the establishment of a Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Oversight Policy Board, which is also a requirement of the State legislation passed in 2012. The SUD Oversight Policy Board approves PA2 budgets for all 8 counties that are parties to this contract, among other functions. Each County's Board of Commissioners appoints up to two members, either Commissioners or other residents, to the SUD Oversight Policy Board. Commissioners Kathy-Sue Vette and Rochelle Hatcher currently represent Calhoun County on this Board.
The County Board of Commissioners approved renewal of the Intergovernmental Contract on August 6, 2020.
This First Amendment is being submitted by SWMBH on behalf of Kalamazoo County, which has already approved the Amendment. The purpose is to add nondiscrimination language that Kalamazoo County requires in each of its contracts.
