12. B. 3.
Waiver of Food Licenses and Other Inspection Fees for 2021
Kelli Scott, Administrator/Controller, Administration
Resolved, the Calhoun County Board of Commissioners hereby waives the collection of fees within the Health Department Special Revenue Fund, for Restaurant Licenses, Campground Inspections and Pool Inspections for 2021.
The CCPHD Administration (supported by members of the Board of Health) and County Administration recommend that the Board of Commissioners waives the collection of Restaurant License Fees, Campground Inspection fees and Pool Inspection Fees for business in Calhoun County in an effort to help those businesses hardest hit by the COVID-19 pandemic over the course of 2020 and continuing into 2021.
With executive orders and MDHHS orders governing capacity limits of various businesses throughout the State of Michigan in concerted efforts to combat COVID-19, many of those businesses throughout Calhoun County are struggling to keep their doors open. In an effort to help support those struggling entities, the CCPHD, with the support of the Board of Health, will waive inspection fees for the year 2021 for Restaurants, Campgrounds and Pools, and pay the State License fee for Restaurants within the County.
The Board could choose not to approve the fee waiver and Restaurants, Campgrounds and Pools would be required to pay their inspection fees to the CCPHD for 2021.
The waiver of these fees will have no General Fund Impact. The Health Fund (a County Special Revenue Fund) will show reduced revenues for 2021 ($288K) and will have an increased expense of $10,000 to pay the State fees for restaurants within the County. The intention is to secure COVID relief funding for the revenue loss/increased expenditures or to utilize Health Department Fund Balance.
