6.5 Mile Road and Harper Village Drive Signal Modernization Design Contract Award
Kristine Parsons, Engineering Director, Road Department
Resolved that the Calhoun County Board of Commissioners does hereby approve the award of the design contract for the 6 ½ Mile Rd. & Harper Village Dr. Signal Modernization Project, to Mannik & Smith, and authorize the Board Chair and the County Administrator/Controller to sign the contract.
The Road Department recomends that the Calhoun County Board of Commission approve the award of the design contract for the 6 ½ Mile Rd. & Harper Village Dr. Signal Modernization Project, which includes traffic signal replacement, mast arms, street lighting signal control, traffic detection, pavement marking, and restoration work; and all together with necessary related work, to Mannik & Smith. This resolution authorizes the Board Chair and the County Administrator/Controller to sign the contract on behalf of Calhoun County.
The Calhoun County Road Department has been granted $257,713 in Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality (CMAQ) funding to modernize the 6 ½ Mile Rd. & Harper Village Dr. signal. Since the Calhoun County Road Department does not have an electrical or signals engineer on staff, the design work for this project, which will be paid for with local funds, was put out for competitive bidding. Three bids were received and they were as follows:
Mannik & Smith
The Board could choose not to approve this contract. If the contract is not approved, the Road Department would not be able to design the project, so the federal aid funding would have to be rejected, and the project would not be completed at this time.
