Mobile Medical Unit Bid Recommendation
Submitted For: Kelli Scott
FROM: Brad Wilcox, Assistant County Administrator , Administration
Department: Administration

Information
RESOLUTION:
Resolved, that the Calhoun County CBoard of Commissioners  approve the purchase of an Immunization Van from Don Brown Bus Sales in the amount of $148,569 and authorize the Board Chair to sign the contact on behalf of the County.
RECOMMENDATION:
County Administration recommends Don Brown Bus Sales to provide a mobile medical unit to assist the Health Department in providing vaccinations in underserved urban populations and hard to reach rural communities. The cost of the medical unit ($148,569) will be charged back to COVID grant sources.
BACKGROUND:
The Calhoun County Public Health Department has determined a need for a mobile immunization van/clinic to conduct immunizations within the community. This will allow CCPHD staff to serve residents within our rural communities, homebound, and underserved population. When conducting drive-thru clinics, this unit also provides staff a safe and sterile environment to conduct vaccine draw-up for COVID-19 and other vaccines.

The Purchasing Department collaborated with the Health Department to assist in the development of the Mobile Medical Unit bid specification and the evaluation of the bid responses. The Purchasing Department received three bids in response to the RFB#102-21. The bidders included; Don Brown Bus Sales (Johnstown, NY), Transportation Equipment Sales Corporation, (Oregon, OH) and Matthew Specialty Vehicles, (Greensboro, NC). Upon further review of the proposals submitted, the Health Department selected the low bid from Don Brown Bus Sales.
