RESOLUTION:
 Be it Resolved, the Calhoun County Board of Commissioners does hereby approve changes to Policy #340 - Employee Benefits, as presented.
RECOMMENDATION:
Resolved, the Board of Commissioners does hereby approve changes to Policy #340 - Employee Benefits, as presented.
BACKGROUND:
Current policy #340, Employee Benefits, allows for a temporary reduction of a full-time employees work hours down to 32 hours while preserving full-time benefits during an economic downturn (pg 2).  It is requested that the 32 hours be reduced to 20 hours to help with additional cost savings related to staffing.

Clarification language was also added on pages 4 and 5 related to the retirement plans.  The additional language simply clarifies that eligible employees are those with a .5 FTE or higher.  This is not a change in benefits or the retirement plans themselves, but just clarification in the policy related to eligibility under the existing plans. 

A red-lined version of the policy with the specific changes is attached.

BUDGETARY IMPACT:
The increased reduction of staffing hours during an economic downturn would be a cost-savings to the County, but the amount would depend on the specific employee, number of hours reduced, and length of time.
