MDOT Contract 21-5001 Tree Removal throughout Calhoun County

Resolved, that the Calhoun County Board of Commissioners does hereby approve, as presented, the Michigan Department of Transportation Contract #21-5001, to perform federal aid safety grant funded tree removals along various routes in Calhoun County, as indicated in the attached exhibit.
It is the Calhoun County Road Department's (CCRD) recommendation to approve Contract 21-5001, which will allow CCRD to accept funding for clearing trees and slope restoration work; and all together with necessary related work. It is the recommendation of the Road Department to approve MDOT Contract # 21-5001. Without board approval, the Road Department would lose funding necessary to move forward with these tree removal projects.
The Calhoun County Road Department has been granted partial funding for a project as part of a federal safety grant award that is proposed to do tree removal work with slope restoration; and all together necessary related work. The contract amount is $913,500, of which Calhoun County Road Department is responsible for $131,500.80.
The Board could choose not to approve this contract. If the contract is not approved, the Road Department would not receive the funds and the project would not be completed at this time.
The Road Department recommends that Calhoun County Board of Commissioners approve, as presented, the Michigan Department of Transportation Contract #21-5001, to perform federal aid safety grant funded tree removals along various routes in Calhoun County, as indicated in the attached exhibit.
The Federal Aid tree project is included in the approved 2021 CCRD Budget.
