The nation’s 3,069 counties, parishes and boroughs serving more than 300 million Americans provide essential services to create healthy, safe and vibrant communities; and
Counties provide public health services, administer justice, keep communities safe, foster economic opportunities and much more; and
Calhoun County and all counties take pride in our responsibility to protect and enhance the health, wellbeing and safety of our residents in efficient and cost-effective ways; and
Under the leadership of National Association of Counties President Gary Moore, NACo is demonstrating how “Counties Matter,” especially in supporting residents and businesses during the coronavirus pandemic; and
Each year since 1991 the National Association of Counties has encouraged counties across the country to elevate awareness of county responsibilities, programs and services; and
This year more than ever Calhoun County government will focus on continued pandemic response and the goal to vaccinate most of our residents as quickly as possible, and on recovery efforts to improve the economic prosperity and strength of our businesses and the health and wellbeing of our community as a whole
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT
I, Steve Frisbie, Calhoun County Board Chair, do hereby proclaim April 2021 as National County Government Month and encourage all county officials, employees, schools and residents to recognize the importance of county government and to partner with us as we emerge from this pandemic together.
