EGLE Local Freight Vehicles, Port Drayage Vehicles, Transit & Shuttle Buses Replacement Grants
Megan Banning, Finance
Resolved, the Board of Commissioners approves the Calhoun County Road Department Application for the EGLE Local Freight Vehicles, Port Drayage Vehicles, Transit & Shuttle Buses Replacement Grants, and authorizes the County Administrator Controller to execute any necessary documents for acceptance and execution of the grant.
County Administration and The Calhoun County Road Department (CCRD) recommend approval of the application for the EGLE Local Freight Vehicles, Port Drayage Vehicles, Transit & Shuttle Buses Replacement Grants.
The Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) is providing up to $30M in grants to assist with the replacement of diesel vehicles and equipment across the State. The grants are made available through Michigan's Fuel Transformation Program and supported with Michigan's allocation of Volkswagen Settlement Funds. CCRD Operations Staff considered all trucks and equipment that were scheduled for replacement within the next year and concurrently met the eligibility for replacement through the grant in regards to age, miles used and emissions. Four (4) trucks were selected, pursuant to the CCRD Truck Replacement Plan. The trucks will be replaced regardless of the award of grant funding, if the CCRD is awarded funding, the cost to replace the trucks will be supplemented with $263,603 in grant funds.
The Board could choose not to approve the grant application, preventing the Road Department from accepting any potential grant award. The total cost of replacement of the four trucks would just follow the CCRD standard replacement plan and the $263,603 in grant funds to apply towards that replacement would be forfeited.
County Administration and The Calhoun County Road Department (CCRD) recommend approval of the application for the EGLE Local Freight Vehicles, Port Drayage Vehicles, Transit & Shuttle Buses Replacement Grants for a potential $263,603 in grant funds to be applied to the annual truck replacement cost for 2022.
The Grant award could potentially provide the CCRD with $263,603 towards the annual replacement of truck equipment in 2022.
