2 1/2 Mile Road Improvement Bid Award - Leroy Township
Kristine Parsons, Engineering Director, Road Department
Resolved that the Calhoun County Board of Commissioners does hereby approve the award of the construction contract for 2 ½ Mile Rd. Improvements Project, which includes HMA base crushing and shaping, HMA paving, and construction of gravel shoulders to Lakeland Asphalt. This resolution authorizes the Board Chair and the County Administrator/Controller to sign the contract on behalf of Calhoun County.
It is the Calhoun County Road Department's (CCRD) recommendation to approve the award of the construction contract to Lakeland Asphalt for the improvements to 2 ½ Mile Rd. between H Dr. S and K Dr. S in Leroy Township. Approving this contract allows CCRD to begin the construction process so that the project can take place this year. Without board approval, the Road Department would not be able to get the project built within this year’s construction season & the project would not be completed.
The Calhoun County Road Department, in cooperation with Leroy Township, have agreed to fund the repairs to 2 ½ Mile Rd. between H Drive S and K Drive S at a 50/50 cost share. This project was put out for competitive bid and three bids were received. They are as follows:
Michigan Paving & Materials Company
Rieth-Riley Construction Company, Inc.
The Board could choose not to approve this contract. If the contract is not approved, the Road Department would not be able to construct this project this year.
Costs for local 2021 Local Road projects are included in the approved 2021 CCRD budget, any project costs over and above the original estimated amount will be included in the County mid-year budget adjustment.
