Request to accept the annual Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant.

Resolved, that the Calhoun County Board of Commissioners accepts the 2020 Justice Assistance Grant (JAG), as presented.
The Sheriff's Office recommends the the Board accepts the JAG Grant award.
The Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs has approved formula funding to Calhoun County in the amount of $42,370 for the fiscal years 2020 - 2023. The funding distribution, as formulated by the U.S. Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Statistics, will be as follows: Battle Creek Police Department $ 23,304, Calhoun County Sheriff's Office $ 19,066.00 for a total of $ 42,370. The City of Battle Creek will be the fiscal and program manger and will be responsible to file the financial and program reports.
The Sheriff's Office and the City have participated in this annual grant for several years and it is currently a part of the Sheriff's Budget. There is no grant match required.
As receommended by the Board of Commission. Approval of the Resolution is necessary to obtain the funding.
The Calhoun County Sheriff recommends that that the Calhoun County Board of Commissioners approve the resolution and accept the 2020 Justice Assistance Grant (JAG), as presented.
The grant is currently budgeted in the Sheriff's budget. There is no grant match required. The Sheriff's plans on using the funds to purchase mobile and portable radios.
